When we designed the building that would house the NUTRE headquarters, we thought about the sustainability principles that would guide the Project and be transmitted by its architecture.
The acronym NUTRE stands for Centre for treatment and rehabilitation for damaged ecosystems. Sustainable design decisions such as sun protection and Wind harvesting for passive cooling were considered not enough. We had to create a sustainability symbol. The Moebius strip, a geometric element that suggests infinity and was used as the base to the universally known recycling symbol, was adopted into the architecture of the building. It was used in the form of a moving sunscreen that tracks the sun path and constanly protects the vertical part of the building from the sun.
